After two decades as the official main sponsor and vehicle partner of the Tour de France, Skoda has now extended its partnership until 2028. The new agreement with the Amaury Sport Organization (A.S.O.) also includes the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift as well as 18 other international cycling events, including the Tour of Spain La Vuelta, the Belgian one-day classics La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège as well as five women's cycling races. It was also agreed that the brand's vehicle fleet would be electrified. To this end, up to 250 Skoda vehicles with battery-electric or plug-in hybrid drive will be available to the organizers for the races included in the agreement.
Skoda is supporting the Tour de France for the 21st time this year. The Enyaq and the Superb iV will lead the field as the "Red Car" at the season highlight starting at the end of June. They serve as mobile command centers for the organizers and race director Christian Prudhomme. The Czech car manufacturer also sponsors the green jersey for the best in points and provides the crystal glass trophies for the winners in the various categories. For the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Skoda will once again provide the support vehicles, the green jersey and the trophies for the winner of the points classification.
Skoda will also accompany the Tour de France and La Vuelta in digital media and via app. In addition, the company offers further cycling-related content on the WeLoveCycling.com website. The brand has its roots in bicycle production, which began in 1895 at its current headquarters in Mladá Boleslav. (aum)
