Euro NCAP has put a number of delivery vans and small vans to the test. The consumer protection organization tests and evaluates the equipment with assistance systems, as light commercial vehicles are often involved in accidents with vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists due to delivery traffic.
The almost identical small vans Citroën Berlingo, Fiat Doblò, Opel (Vauxhall) Combo and Peugeot Partner from the Stellantis Group received the "Gold" award. They achieved 62 percent of the possible points.
The VW Caddy and Renault Kangoo scored slightly better with 68 and 78 percent respectively, but were still awarded "Gold". The VW ID Buzz Cargo, which ranks one segment higher, was awarded "Platinum" with 83 percent of the possible points and the Mercedes-Benz e-Citan was the test winner. It scored 87 percent.
At the beginning of the second half of the year, the EU will increase the safety requirements for light commercial vehicles. (aum)
