Alfa Romeo Milano is in the starting blocks

Alfa Romeo will soon be launching its first fully electric model, the Milano, which has now celebrated its world premiere - where else - in the Lombard metropolis of Milan. The "Sport Urban Vehicle" (according to Alfa Romeo), which will also be available as a three-cylinder petrol hybrid, has an appealing driving range on paper with 319 to 410 kilometers of purely electric range according to WLTP and an output of 115 kW (156 hp).

With a few exceptions, the works of Italian designers are a feast for the eyes. This also applies to the Milano. With compact dimensions, its proportions combine sporty elegance with clear lines and striking surfaces, while the muscular-looking wheel arches and the steeply sloping rear stand for power and dynamism. In the interior, the attention to detail is striking. This includes the handy small steering wheel, the ergonomically well-placed controls and the instrument cluster with its fully digital 10.25-inch TFT screen (26 centimetres diagonal), which provides information on the most important driving and vehicle data as well as the settings for the driver assistance systems, for example.

Test drives for journalists were not yet possible at the world premiere. However, if Alfa Romeo is to be believed, the low weight and optimum weight distribution should guarantee the sporty handling typical of the brand. It is also said that the top-of-the-range model in the Veloce equipment version has a 25 millimetre lower sports suspension, reinforced stabilizers on the front and rear axles, a sports brake system with 380 millimetre brake discs on the front axle and a mechanical Torsen limited slip differential to meet even the highest demands. We are looking forward to our first driving impressions. (aum)
