Cupra is the global partner of the 37th America's Cup. The oldest sailing regatta still being held today will take place between August and October 2024. And for the first time in its 172-year history, Cupra's home city of Barcelona will be the venue.
To kick off the partnership, the Spanish car brand presented a "CUPRA Cube" in La Barceloneta, the beach district of Barcelona, which serves as a countdown timer. Cupra will then release the first images of the Terramar, the official vehicle of the competition, at the start of the sailing regatta. The electrified sports SUV, whose name pays homage to the birthplace of Cupra, will be fully unveiled for the first time during the event.
In 2024, the Puig Women's America's Cup will also be held for the first time in the history of the competition. Here, female sailors from all over the world can put their skills to the test. In addition, the Youth America's Cup, a sailing regatta for participants under the age of 25, offers up-and-coming talents the opportunity to showcase themselves.
The America's Cup is the regatta where there is no second place - you either win or you lose, and has been for over 170 years. Launched in 1851, the competition has a huge global reach and is considered the oldest sailing regatta still held today. In Barcelona, the competition takes place in the Port Vell area and along the beach to Port Olímpic. (aum)
