Traton: Three out of four Group brands up

The Traton Group, the truck division of the Volkswagen Group, achieved record sales last year with 338,200 vehicles delivered. 281,300 trucks and 30,300 buses represent a growth of eleven percent, which is mainly due to the truck business. Bus sales developed only slightly better than in the previous year with 30,300 units and an increase of two percent. MAN accounted for almost a third of all deliveries, but Scania and the US subsidiary Navistar also grew. With their growth, all three brands made up for the 31 percent decline at Volkswagen Truck & Bus in South America. A total of 37,200 commercial vehicles were sold there, almost 14,000 fewer than in the previous year. The reason for this is a shrinking overall market due to new exhaust regulations. (aum)
