Hyundai makes the Tucson fit for the second half
Hyundai is revamping the Tucson for the second half of its life later this spring. Two 12.3-inch panoramic displays improve connectivity and are complemented by a new head-up display with direct projection onto the windshield. The new instrument panel follows a horizontal layout and includes an open storage compartment. Gears are now selected using the gearshift on the steering wheel, leaving more space between the front seats and allowing the armrest to be redesigned. A new color display for the automatic climate control increases ease of use.
Over-the-air updates will keep the vehicle up to date in future. A crosswind assist system will be added to the safety equipment, and glare-free LED matrix headlights are also new. Digital Key 2.0, which turns the smartphone into a vehicle key, will also be introduced later in the year. The plug-in hybrid will then also be available with front-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive.
Thanks to geofencing, the Tucson PHEV can drive purely electrically in designated low emission zones or areas with emission restrictions that are stored in the map. The second generation of Green Zone Driving Mode also takes into account individually stored favorites, such as the home address, as well as the driving history.
Externally, the new model year can be recognized by modified bumpers, a new underride guard and larger daytime running lights, among other things. There are also four new exterior colors. (aum)
