Practical test Audi A7 Sportback 50 TDI: Master of the long haul

Range anxiety? Not an issue in the Audi A7 Sportback 50 TDI. While long distances with electric cars can only be covered with careful planning of charging points within a reasonably reasonable time frame, the coupé-like four-door model can easily cover a good 900 kilometers. And it does so with a three-liter engine that knows how to grab like a gentle giant and delivers 210 kW (286 hp), but above all impresses with its beefy torque peak of 620 Newton meters. Only the price dampened the good mood.

The base price of 72,300 euros is already very impressive. If you choose the finer ingredients from the options list, including all-wheel steering and air suspension, you can easily reach the 104,380 euros that our test car cost.

But: the driving comfort and agility increase considerably as a result. The additional steering of the rear wheels almost completely prevents lateral inclination in bends and stabilizes the body just as reliably when changing lanes quickly and at high speeds on the freeway. And the air suspension dispels the bad mood when some roads in the hinterland have more in common with a freshly plowed beet field than a paved connecting road. Like a sedan chair, the A7 literally floats over the bumps and potholes are only met with a brief shrug of the shoulders, allowing long distances to be covered without fatigue and in a relaxed manner.

In addition, the large Audi shines with excellent quality, the gaps are narrow and even, and there are no signs of negligence in the material mix and workmanship, even on closer inspection. However, that would be more than reprehensible in view of the pricing. However, the A7 is a lot of fun to drive for long distances. (aum)
