Porsche sharpens up the Cayenne GTS

Porsche is adding the GTS models to the Cayenne series, which will be revised in 2023. The SUV and Coupé are now powered by a four-liter biturbo V8 engine with 500 hp (368 kW), an increase of 40 hp (30 kW) compared to the direct predecessor model. The maximum torque has also been increased by 40 Nm to 660 Nm. Mated to a revised eight-speed Tiptronic S with shorter response and shift times, the all-wheel-drive vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The top speed is 275 km/h.

To this end, Porsche now equips the streamlined and lowered GTS suspension with adaptive air suspension including active damper control and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) as standard. Some components, such as the pivot bearings on the front axle for more direct steering behavior or the independently water-cooled transfer case for higher endurance in circuit driving or on winding mountain roads, originate from the top Turbo GT model, which is no longer offered in Europe due to stricter environmental regulations.

The GTS models can traditionally be recognized by their sporty dress, which includes black lettering on the flanks and rear, a special front section with enlarged cooling air openings, darkened headlights and rear lights as well as red brake callipers. New features include sill trims, inserts in the front section, side window strips and wheel arch extensions in high-gloss black. The previously black tailpipes of the sports exhaust system are now in a dark bronze tone and the 21-inch wheels in RS Spyder design are painted in anthracite gray.

Porsche equips the interior of the Cayenne GTS with a heated GT sports steering wheel as standard. In addition to the new digital instrument cluster in curved design and the optional passenger display, the Sport Design package, darkened matrix LED headlights, ambient lighting and a Bose surround sound system are available ex works. The GTS Coupé also has a panoramic fixed glass roof and an adaptively extending rear spoiler.

Porsche is offering the new Cayenne GTS in Germany at prices starting at 138,000 euros and as an SUV Coupé at prices starting at 141,700 euros. Both models can be ordered immediately. Deliveries in Europe will begin in the summer. (aum)
