Larger battery, more power, greater range

Audi has refreshed the electrified Q7 and Q8. In addition to the revised exterior design with new front and rear aprons, the battery technology in particular has been updated and more efficient driving modes installed. For the first time, all-wheel steering is also available as an option for both plug-in hybrids, promising greater safety and comfort, while electromechanical active roll stabilization is intended to guarantee more dynamic handling.

At the heart of each of the plug-in hybrids are a 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol engine with 340 hp (250 kW), a 130 kW electric motor (PSM), 460 Nm of torque and the liquid-cooled lithium battery, which is located under the luggage compartment floor. It has a maximum capacity of 25.9 kWh gross (22 kWh net) and should enable a purely electric range of up to 90 kilometers in urban areas and up to 85 kilometers in the combined cycle according to the WLTP standard. The maximum system output for both models starts with 290 kW (394 PS) and a maximum system torque of 600 Nm for the 55 TFSI e quattro. When both units work together, the electrified Q7 and Q8 accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds each.

Above this is the 60 TFSI e quattro, also with a new electric motor design, with up to 360 kW (490 PS) of system output and 700 Nm of torque. In this configuration, the Q7 and Q8 both need 5.0 seconds to reach 100 km/h. All variants are electronically limited to 240 km/h and can be driven purely electrically up to a speed of 135 km/h. However, charging takes 7.0 seconds. However, charging is only possible with 7.4 kW, which means it takes around three hours and 45 minutes to fully recharge the battery.

The revised Audi Q7 TFSI e quattro and Q8 TFSI e quattro will be launched at the end of April. Prices for the Q7 55 TFSI e quattro start at 85,500 euros, while the more powerful 60 TFSI e quattro version costs 96,000 euros. The Audi Q8 55 TFSI e quattro can be ordered for 92,900 euros, while the Q8 60 TFSI e quattro costs at least 103,200 euros. (aum)
