Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is ready for the event of the year

The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is ready for the DTM season opener next weekend (April 26-28). The multifunctional facility in the Magdeburger Börde has taken on most of the tasks involved in preparing for the mega-event itself.

Over the course of the week, the track safety stewards and the arena's construction yard worked hard to get the track in optimum condition. The ground markings on the 3.69-kilometer track were refreshed - in particular, the red and white curbs (kerbs on the corners), which are characteristic of a race track, were completely renewed. "Around 600 liters of paint with a special sand mixture were laboriously applied for this," says Carsten Schliephake, technical manager of the facility.

One of the biggest technical challenges this year was to install all the light panels on time. These are display panels that use light signals to enable direct communication with the drivers during the race. In addition, 40 new loudspeakers were installed on the start-finish straight to provide visitors with optimum sound reinforcement during the race.

Preparations for this major event began for the Arena team many months before the event. Volunteers were already contacted last year to ensure that there would be sufficient staff on site for track safety and medical services. Five doctors will be on standby at the Medical Center, the race track's rescue center, next weekend.

To ensure the safety of both drivers and spectators, paramedics will be on duty at various points. In addition, 15 firefighters will ensure that the event runs smoothly. An additional grandstand has been erected in the popular Hasseröder Kurve in view of the expected rush of visitors. Ticket sales have already exceeded last year's figures by 20 percent.

The final preparations are currently underway - from mowing the lawns for the parking lots to thoroughly cleaning the windows of the VIP lounges. The Motorsport Arena grounds will be a hive of activity until the very end as everyone works to prepare for the biggest event of the season.

And it will be an event for the whole family, as tickets are available from 39 euros and children up to the age of 16 are admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.dtm.com. There will also be a box office on site. Access to the paddock is included in all ticket categories. (aum)
