Porsche development driver Lars Kern lapped the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in 7:07.55 minutes in a pre-series car of the next model generation of the Taycan. This was 26 seconds faster than his last record run in August 2022 in a Taycan Turbo S Sport Sedan with Performance Package. "This puts the Taycan in the range of electric hypercars," said a delighted Kevin Giek, Head of the model series. "And the impressive thing is that Lars achieved almost the same time on several laps."
On the approach to the Schwedenkreuz, for example, the pre-production car was a good 25 km/h faster. In the end, the pre-production car made up over 1.3 kilometers compared to the current Taycan Turbo S on the 20.8-kilometer course in the Eifel.
For safety reasons, the test car was equipped with the prescribed roll cage and racing bucket seats. (aum)
